its a real time strategy with incredibly realistic battles and turn based campaign maps [like civilisation games]. It's the best strategy game ever created.
Rome is set in roman times Medieval 1&2 is in medieval time Empire is during 17-1800 focusing on main European factions [English, French ect.] Napoleon is during Napolean's time Shogan 2 is in the 15-1600's in Japan
Shogan 2 looks really good, but medieval 2 is the best so far
Note: They can be very complicated, as they are very in depth. You'll see if you play one
NTW is cool too, but I don't like much the new campaign system since ETW, but the battles are awesome

I've never played any of this 'Star Craft' you go on about. What I've seen of it it's some ancient sci fi Age of Empires. BTW Age of Empires 2 was the best in the Age of series, it was just so... good. The editor wasn't as good as AoM's though. I should probly add here that the Spore editor is the best, except for the fact it dosen't have enough triggers/conditions like in AoM.
Winston, based on what I've seen of it, if you think SC is complicated, your head would explode trying to figure out the Total War games.
